Stamford Kiwanis’ family fun day will return to Burghley Park this weekend after a hiatus of several years.

Thanks to sponsorship from local businesses and the Big Lottery Fund, the club has organised a wealth of free entertainment and activities for all ages.

The event will run in the grounds of Burghley House from 10am to 5pm on Sunday.

Kiwanis president Robin Peace said: “It’s going to be a fabulous day. The whole day will be really good fun for children, young people and adults to try new activities, learn a new skill, take part in a workshop or just be entertained.

“Bring a picnic and make the most of what is looking like an incredible day of fun and entertainment for all.”

Among those providing workshops are Wildcats Theatre School and Academy, who will lead a host of performance-based workshops alongside a fun packed line-up of performers on stage.

Circus Sensible will run workshops which will appeal to both children and adults. Burghley Park Golf Club will have a golf driving range where you can test your skills against seasoned professionals. Musicians from the area will provide a varied range of classes and tuition over a variety of instruments and styles. And photographer Don Lambert will introduce people to the art.

There will also be magic, hat making, art, storytelling, badge making, cycling, football, taekwondo, lino cut printing, knitting, baby classes and play activities.

Creative youngsters aged up to 16 will have the chance to enter two competitions. Poets will be asked to come up with verses on the theme of A Family Day Out, to fit on an A4 page. Entries submitted before 3pm will be in with a chance of winning a £20 book token from Walkers Bookshop or a £10 voucher for WH Smith.

And those who enter the painting and drawing competition on the theme of A Day At The Seaside could take home a set of artists materials from Coleman’s.

The event will also feature a flypast from a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Spitfire, a funfair and food stalls, trade and charity stalls, and much more.

The whole day is free to attend and there will be ample free parking.
