Last Friday was the hosting of Rutland Water Golf Club’s annual presentation evening. The event, which sees all the winners of all competitions receive their well deserved trophies, was a great success, with more than 100 members attending along with their partners.
Hosting the event was captain Eamonn O Brien, who presented the awards to all the respective champions. Receiving the main award on the evening was Club Champion Paul Tomson who had only just made the event after his flight back from Germany had been delayed earlier that day.
Other big winners on the night were Graeme Macnaughton who scooped two awards in the mens foursomes doubles with Gary Fretwell and in the mixed doubles with his partner Jo Morris, and FA cup hero George Reilly who collected the trophy for the mens fourball doubles with his brother Peter.
Following the award ceremony the guests were treated to a warm buffet supper, kindly put on by club proprietor Steve Makey and a ‘BeeGees’ tribute act consisting of PGA Professional Adrian Ashworth, club member Marc Smith and resident DJ Jimi Ross, followed later on by a disco and karaoke.
Eamonn describing the event as a ‘massive success’ and the club as having a ‘ great ethos with fantastic loyal members which sets us apart from all the other golf clubs ’.
