Uppingham secured their place in the Steamin Billy Twenty/20 competition by beating Market Overton on Friday night.
Batting first hosts Market Overton got off to a poor start with the loss of Hayden Murphy to a brilliant run out without facing a ball, and he was quickly followed by Dillon Rose (0) caught and bowled by Mark Cox.
Brian Makwana survived a simple catch to top score with 47 runs for Market Overton, as their lower order batting crumbled chasing runs. Stu Lambie was the pick of the Uppingham bowlers taking three wickets for one run as Marko were bowled out for 124 runs.
In reply Uppingham started solidly with Jamie Dumford (36) and Martin Bennett (30) took the Town score to 53 runs for the first wicket, Mark Cox (28) pushed the score onto 102 runs for three wickets after 16 overs played, and Alex Ashwin (16 not out) finished the game off in style for Uppingham hitting a six and two fours to give Uppingham a comfortable win in the 19th over.
Uppingham will now face Ketton Lions in the final on July 4 at Oakham CC.
