Market Deeping and Billingborough pick up points in the Lincolnshire ECB Premier League


Second placed Spalding were held to a draw by Billingborough in the Readers Lincolnshire ECB Premier League at the weekend.

At Billingborough, Thivanka Rajatne put in a man of the match performance for Spalding, hitting 82 runs and taking five wickets. Spalding were dismissed for 212, with veteran Roy Tilley taking five for the home side while captain Steve Scott ensured his side took 11 points from the game with an unbeaten 57 which saw Billingborough reach 178 for nine.

Tilley was a member of the team when Billingborough played their first ever game in a league back in 1986 when they joined the South Lincolnshire & Border League.

Tom Andrews took seven wickets as Market Deeping picked up 20 points against Grimsby to go third but last season’s champions Sleaford were on the wrong end of a draw at Bourne and slip to fourth.

Chris Jones was the day’s top scorer with 98 for Market Deeping who amassed 279 for seven and despite Maninder Singh’s unbeaten 51, Grimsby slumped to 98 all out.

Carl Wilson was unbeaten on 75 when Bourne’s overs ran out with the score on 231 for eight and despite Tim McIntosh batting through for an unbeaten 92, Sleaford finished 30 runs short of their target.
