Ketton Lions’ 100 per cent winning start in Cambs Division One came to an abrupt end on Saturday when they met the league’s reigning champions Ramsey.
The Rams savaged the Ketton Lion by 183 runs at Cricketfield Lane as opener James Markland cracked his second century in three outings.
Markland’s 101 enabled Ramsey to reach 270-5 in their 48 overs after being invited to bat. Ketton were dismissed for just 87 in reply with Michael Cafferkey (4-34) and Jonathan Cade (3-23) doing the bulk of the damage once defiant Aussie Ben Bryant (37) had been removed
Ramsey skipper Taylor West added a half century for Ramsey, while Aussie Joe Barningham made an unbeaten 46 and Jordon Cafferley contributed 43.
It turned into an even better day for Ramsey when the other top flight results rolled in. As they were winning for the first time this season, none of the three teams who started the day with 100 per cent records managed to win.
Fifth-placed Nassington were frustrated by the last-wicket pair Waresley who survived the final nine overs to force a draw. Dan Bandaranaike (75) top scored in Nassington’s 236-5 and Kasim Ikhlaq bagged 4-28 as Waresley replied with 137-9. Youngster Harrison Craig and Adam Scotcher took two wickets apiece.
