Four Bourne teenagers took part in the National Cyclo-Cross Championships at the Moorways Centre in Derby last weekend.
All four youths rode well in incredibly testing conditions, with the two mile circuit resembling a bog for large sections of the lap, where the volume of riders churned the saturated course up as the weekend unfolded.
On Saturday, the highest place achieved by a Bourne riders was seventh by Maddie Gammons in the under 16 girls race. Tim James came 15th and Robbie Ward 55th in the under 16 boys race.
On the Sunday when the course was at its worse, Sian Botteley placed 9th in the junior girls race.
With just one more race this year, the Lincs League handicap race at Bardney on Sunday, it won’t be long before the club’s riders will be honing their skills and brushing down their best bikes for the upcoming road season.
