Airshots Golf Society season gets underway

The 2014 Airshots Golf Society season got underway on Sunday at Boston West Golf Club.

The society is made up of members from many of our local clubs with the aim of raising awareness and funds for the Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.

Mothers Day & the final WOOM at Greetham Valley limited the field to just under 30 eager members, who were treated to a glorious day at a challenging course.

The 2014 captain Mark Haynes (Greetham Valley) welcomed the members and conducted the draw.

The competition format as always was a an individual stableford off full handicap.

A buffet and presentation took place at the Pyramid Club in Bourne who co-sponsored the first event along with the P&Q’s Golf Society.

The first three places were separated by a single point with a surprisingly low scoring return.

In third was Davie Smith with 36 points, runner up on count back with a score of 37 was James Eversden and the winner also on 37 was Barry Leycote.

Other prizes included nearest the pin and longest drive which both went to Jonny Herbert,

The first event raised a total of £462.50.
