The Junior Championship, played as a net competition, was won by Adam Mayman, with an excellent net 64 off a handicap of 22.
This saw him cut to 20, with Will Robinson taking second with a net 66 off a handicap of 20, which saw him cut to 19.
Juniors’ Captain Dean Vaughan retained the Luffenham Salver for the best gross score by a Junior under 18 in the main Club Championships, with his score of 72 in Round 1.
Sanjay Nithiyilingam won the Latimer Cup for the best gross score by an under 16 Junior in the Club Championship, with his 76 in Round 1.
l The Seniors played on Monday for the Eric McKaig trophy for Ladies, and the Peter Wass Memorial trophy was contested by the Men.
This was the first playing of the McKaig Trophy, presented in memory of past Seniors captain Eric McKaig who died recently. Twenty-one ladies took part, with the honour of being the inaugural winner going to Pauline Purchase with 34 points, with Isobel Reading second on 33, and Joan Hickman third on 31.
The Wass Trophy event attracted 42 entries, with six players beating par. There was a three-way tie at the top on 39 points, with countback being needed to separate the leaders. Victory went to Keith Duff, ahead of David Fovargue and Peter Hickman, with Duff being cut to 11.
l The July Midweek Medal, played during the height of the heatwave, had a smaller than usual field, but those who turned out took full advantage of the good conditions.
Robert Fisher came out on top in Division 1, his net 68 being good enough to edge out Jim McGhee on countback.
Both were cut from 11 to 10. Jake Brown was third with a net 69. Paul Downs took the honours in Division 2, with a net 68 which saw him come down from 14 to 13. Ian Clark was second with a net 70, cut to 18, with Stephen Cheeseman third on net 71.
l Burghley’s Mixed team entertained Sleaford last week, and secured a solid 4-2 win in what is always a competitive match.

l The Burghley Juniors team has started their campaign in the South Lincolnshire League with a home fixture against Toft and Stoke Rochford, and whitewashed both teams 4-0.
