Bourne Town did what the last six teams to play Long Buckby couldn’t - they took points off the fast climbing side.
The Wakes drew 1-1 away at Buckby in the UCL Division One thanks to a second half equaliser from Zak Munton.
Long Bucky looked to be well on their way to a seventh straight win when Ed Kostiuk put the hosts ahead in the 37th minute.
Bourne’s top-scorer came to the rescue 10 minutes after the break, taking a pass from James Zealand, before using his pace to beat his marker and then run around the home custodian. There was still plenty of work left to do as two Long Buckby defenders had got back to cover the line but they were no match for sharp-shooter Munton.
Rather than chase the game Bourne were left to dig in for the final quarter of an hour after midfielder Craig Rook was dismissed for picking up his second yellow card of the game.
Bourne, who find themselves in sixth place in the league, are away to struggling Bugbrooke St Michaels on Saturday, who are second from bottom.
