Successful weekend for area’s football sides

It was a busy and successful weekend of football across the leagues and in the cup.

Stamford Daniels drew 1-1 away at Frickley Athletic but only thanks to a top save from keeper Alex Lynch.

The game was goaless until the second half when Nabil Shariff put Stamford ahead on their travels to South Yorkshire, cutting in from the left to curl the ball beyond the keeper.

However just three minutes later Frickley were awarded a penalty when Ryan Paczkowski was knocked over in the box.

Keeper Lynch went the right way but Gavin Allott’s power drive went under his body.

Stamford’s job was made all the more difficult when Ryan Robbins was dismissed on 73 minutes for raising his hands in an altercation.

In the closing moments of the game, the on loan Posh keeper, Lynch denied Frickley all three points with a great reaction save from Jake Picton at close range.

Deepiny Rangers continued their high-scoring form with a thumping 7-0 away win over Northampton Sileby Rangers in the UCL Premier Division.

A hatrick for striker Alex Beck was the highlight in big win for Rangers.

He was joined on the score sheet by Bogusz, Braithwaite, Burton-Jones and Moreman.

In the UCL Division One Blackstones finished 2-1 winners at home over Rushden and Higham United and Bourne Town secured a vital 3-2 away win over Woodford United.

In the Reserve Division Bourne Town Res went down 1-0 to Bugbrooke St Michaels Reserves at home.

In the Peterborough and District League Division One, Stamford Belvedere lost 3-0 at home to Holbeach United Reserves, Langtoft United drew 2-2 away at Warboys Town and Kings Cliffe claimed a 1-1 draw away at AFC Stanground.

In Division Two Langtoft Reserves finished 6-1 victors over the visiting Long Sutton Athletic Reserves.

Baston got the better of Oundle Town with a 2-1 win on their travels.

In the PFA Challenge Cup Ryhall United finished 4-2 winners over Crowland Town Reserves

In the PFA Senior Cup Oakham United marched through with a 4-1 away win over Crowland Town.

Progression was not as easy for Uppingham Town who went through on penalties, 2-1, after the sides were all level at 1-1.

In the Leicestershire Senior League Premiership Division Cottesmore Amateurs drew 2-2 away at Shepshed Dynamo Reserves.
