Deeping Rangers earned the right to bring Evo-Stik Division One South side Leek Town back to the Haydon Witham Stadium on Tuesday night after they fought back from 2-0 down to claim a 2-2 draw against their higher league opponents.
Rangers fell behind on the half hour mark when last season’s top scorer for Leek Town, Tim Grice, sparked the game into life with an effort from close range after a goalmouth scramble.
Just five minutes later he was celebrating his second of the afternoon, his firm low strike beating Deeping keeper Danny Bircham.
However after the break Deeping took control of the game. The travelling side were much more composed on the ball and started to create chances.
Star performer David Burton-Jones started the Rangers fightback when he found a way through the Leek defence and then signing of the season Scott Coupland scored his ninth goal of the season in his ninth appearance in the 68th minute.
Neither side could find a winner in the remaining 20 minutes meaning Deeping are still in the running to pocket the £3,000 reward for making the next round of the competition.
Kick-off on Tuesday is at 7.45pm.
Deeping: Danny Bircham, Dan Flack, Tom Smith, David Burton-Jones, Spencer Tinkler, Luke Hunnings, Jason Kilbride, Luke Avis, Scott Mooney, Scott Coupland, Fraser Sturgess.
