Deeping Rangers held higher-level King’s Lynn Town to a 1-1 draw at Outgang Road on Saturday when the UCL Premier Division side kicked off their pre-season schedule.

A goal by Dan Quigley early in the second half put Lynn ahead but Ryan Oliver hit an equaliser for the home side.

With the departure of Alex Beck and Mitch Griffiths, who scored more than 30 goals between them last season and have joined Boston Town and Sleaford respectively during the off-season, Oliver is likely to shoulder much of the goal-scoring work if his side are to challenge the top sides in the league once again.

Lynn played a team made up of a mixture of first team and last season’s reserves.

Deeping continue their pre-season fixtures at home to St Neots Saints tomorrow night (Tuesday), before playing Newmarket Town at Outgang Road on Saturday.
