Ketton Under-18s had to hold their nerve to win on penalties in their Leicestershire and Rutland County Cup semi final against Houghton Rangers.
Ketton travelled with only the bare 11 due to injuries and holidays, and things took a turn for the worse within ten minutes when Joe Leftley was carried off injured, leaving them down to ten men.
Houghton took the lead with a great goal which seemed to wake Ketton up.
It wasn’t long before Joe Morley scrambled one home followed soon after by a goal from Lewis Morley.
Houghton got an equaliser before regaining the lead in the second half from a good set piece.
Lewis Morley took advantage of a defensive mix-up to level the scores and push the game into extra time.
Ketton earned a penalty, scored calmly by Harrison Mile but, with two minutes left, Houghton scored from a corner to make it 4-4 and take the game to a penalty shoot-out. Ketton won after Houghton’s fifth penalty was missed
