Oakham United’s season did not finish with the climax they had hoped as impressive Hinckley AFC beat them 5-1 on Tuesday night in the final of the Leicestershire Senior Cup.

The Tractor Boys had hoped to become the first Rutland winners of the trophy but those ambitions were dashed by a sparkling display from free scoring Midland League side.

Ryan Seal was the architect of their downfall, scoring a hat-trick on the night at Holmes Park, the home of the Leicestershire FA.

Ryan Seal opened the scoring for Hinckley’s in the eighth minute after he was played in by a beautiful outside of the foot pass from Darious Darkin. Six minutes later Isaac Cooper headed in a Sean Williams cross to double the lead .

A swerving left footed drive from Javia Roberts made it 3-0 after 25 minutes as Oakham were blown away by a side playing with plenty of confidence.

However the Rutland side were given a potential way back into the game when|Hinckley had Lee Butler dismissed late in the first half .

Then three minutes after the break Oakham star striker Lewis Leckie pulled a goal back and second half comeback looked on.

But just a minute later though Seal restored Hinckley’s three goal margin and the same player got his third of the game from a Darkin through ball after 58 minutes.

The loss concludes Oakham’s first season of Step Six football. They finished their first season 12th in the UCL Division One.
