Charities like Three Counties Dog Rescue can only survive through the efforts of their fundraisers.
Ten years ago I was approached by Marjorie Briggs, a retired local schoolteacher and her friend Erica Parry, to offer their services as fundraisers for us. Since then these two wonderful ladies have become our most successful fundraisers.
If you are one of those generous supporters who have put a contribution in our collection box you will probably have met them as they have been on duty in all weathers at supermarkets and street locations in the area.
Together with their team of helpers they have now raised over £70,000 to improve the lives of the dogs and cats at Three Counties.
Last week we all met for a special dinner to mark the end of Marjorie's time as organiser of these collections and to thank Marjorie and Erica for their work.
Marjorie will be a tough act to follow. She intends to keep on collecting but will hand over the organising role to Helen Perkins.
An increase in the number of neglected animals coming to us in need of veterinary care means that these bills run to £70,000 a year. If you could help with our fundraising please get in touch. You can also donate through our website or text TCDR13 £5 to 70070.
