The Stamford branch of the Motor Neurone Disease Association has had a fantastic month, receiving two cheques.
Burghley Park Golf Club raised an incredible £8,008.80 to help people living with Motor Neurone Disease locally.
Club captain David Devlin and ladies captain, Gill Bedford both selected Stamford Motor Neurone Disease Association as their captain’s charity for April 2015-April 2016.
They wanted to support a charity that directly helped people in the Stamford region.
Ellen Chisholm, Stamford MNDA group leader and Heather Cullen, the group’s treasurer, were invited to the club for the presentation of the cheque.
Ellen said: “I would like to thank all of the golf club members for their generosity and enthusiastic support of the fundraising events.
“The funds raised will be spent on specialist equipment and quality of life grants for local people with MND and their families.
“It will really make a huge difference.”
A member of the group Dorothea Mills also organised a fundraising event called Shop to Help Others, which was held at The Cosy Club in Stamford.
Inspired by her father’s diagnosis of the disease, Dorothea recruited several local businesses to sell their products with a percentage of the proceeds being donated to Stamford MNDA.
There was also a raffle and cupcakes on sale.
She raised £185.90.
