SKDC officials to meet in Bourne to discuss growth and economy

Councillors and Officers of South Kesteven District will be meeting in Bourne next Wednesday in response to requests to hold meetings in the smaller towns of the district.

The meeting of the Growth Overview and Scrutiny Committee scheduled for June 13 will be held in the Wake House community centre on North Street in Bourne.

Coun Ashley Baxter, who represents Market and West Deeping ward said: “I have repeatedly requested the council use alternative meeting venues around the district because the council is too focused on Grantham.

"This is obvious to anyone who reads the council’s SK Today newsletters.

"By holding the growth meeting in Bourne the council will send an important message to residents in the south of our district that they are not completely forgotten.

"Furthermore, the meeting will be an opportunity for people living in Bourne and the surrounding villages to witness democracy in action."

The meeting will begin at 10am with an opportunity for members of the public to make comments to the committee.

The meeting will be chaired by Robert Reid who represents the Bourne Austerby ward.

In the autumn, the council plans to hold a Cabinet meeting in the Deepings.
