Scrivens Hearing Care marks Hearing Awareness Week

A company is hoping to remove the stigma surrounding hearing loss by hosting a Hearing Awareness Week.

Scrivens Hearing Care, which has branches in Stamford and Bourne, hopes to encourage more people to come forward for hearing checks during the six-day campaign.

Audiologist Andrew Kellett, who is based at Scrivens in Bourne, said: “Hearing loss isn’t just a problem for older people, it can affect people of any age so we would urge them not to be shy and to drop in and see us for a free screening.

“Having a hearing impairment isn’t an illness, nor is it a stigma and it’s never been easier to access free hearing checks and quality digital hearing aids in the comfort of a store.

“Wearing a hearing aid should be as natural as wearing a pair of glasses.”

Experts will be on hand at the Scrivens stores in Ironmonger Street, Stamford, and Crown Walk, Bourne, throughout next week to carry out free hearing checks, offer advice and demonstrate a range of hearing aids.

Audiologist Mohammed Rahman, who is based at the Stamford branch, “We hope that the week will encourage lots of people to have a free hearing check and help normalise the use of hearing aids and highlight how easy it is to access community based hearing services.”
