Bourne Town Harriers has donated the proceeds of its Grimsthorpe Castle 10k race to The Friends of Bourne Wood.
The Harriers have hosted the race for 25 years, which in the past has run alongside the St John Ambulance fun day and music festival held in the grounds of the estate.
This year as the events weren’t running, the race took place independently on the traditional course on the August Bank Holiday.
The weather was dire but many hardy souls braved the elements and the race went ahead.
Bakkavor Bourne salads and Jo Simms have continued the support given over many years for the event and so the Harriers are able to make a donation from the proceeds of the race.
This year the Friends of Bourne Wood was the beneficiary of £250. Many of the club’s endurance training sessions take place in the woods and the Harriers regard it as a very special place to run.
Secretary of the Friends Sarah Roberts said she was very grateful for the donation which would be used to renew the marquee it uses for big events.
