Your News: Scifest 2014 set to return

This year will see the return of the popular and exciting Scifest, a bi-annual festival that brings science presenters to local primary schools and to the people of Bourne.

Following a successful and dynamic program of shows, including an evening with Jonny Ball in 2012 – this year promises to be just as thrilling! To kick start everything with a Crash, Bang, Pow, the Scifest team are hosting an evening with Matt Prichard and his Superhero Science show.

This will be held on Thursday, May 1 at Witham Hall school at 7.30pm. Tickets are available from Wild Heart Music shop, Bourne Abbey C of E Primary Academy and Bourne Westfield Academy priced at £2 per person.

Profits from the show will benefit the main Scifest event which will take place from October 6 to 10, 2014. The eighth event of this type, which is entirely funded by generous sponsorship from local organisations and businesses, will again bring exciting shows and workshops to pupils in local primary schools.

Presentations will include Zoolab where children get up close and personal with a selection of creepy crawlies and Starlincs, an inflatable astronomy dome!

As always there will be two evening performances taking place at the Corn Exchange that will feature Channel 4’s Greg Foot presenting his ‘Everest’ show on Tuesday, October 7 and James Soper’s ‘Science of the Circus’ show on Thursday, October 9.

Further detail of these exciting events will follow in the summer – but if you can’t wait to start expanding your mind then come along on May 1 to our brilliant evening of breathtaking demonstrations including how to find out if Superheroes are fact or fiction, explore x-ray vision, super strength, invisibility, and find out what they do (or don’t) have to do with real science like forces and motion, light and radiation.
