More than 350 children in Key Stage 2 at Bourne Abbey were fortunate to take part in a mass fitness workout earlier this month with a former Olympian.
The children were visited by Sean Rose, a double paralympian downhill skier and a world champion water skier.
Sean unfortunately broke his back in a freak skiing accident in 2000 but rather than thinking his life was over, he saw it as a way of realising his dreams and enjoying his new life.
Sean, along with a ‘sportivator’ from Sports for Schools put the children through their paces taking part in a mass fitness circuit.
Sean then brought all the children together with a very motivational assembly where he explained what had happened to him and what he had gone onto achieve.
As well as experiencing an exciting and energetic morning of fitness challenges and listening to Sean’s very motivational assembly, the children also raised more than £750 of which the school will get some to spend on new PE equipment and some will go towards helping future Olympic athletes.
