A summer fete in the village of Dowsby raised about £500 for the parish church.

The fete was opened by Billingborough benefice Reverend Anna Sorensen, and had the stalls including flower and jewellery stalls, with some surprises, such as Peter Jackson’s inventive railway shunting puzzle with model steam locomotives and trucks.

Guides took visitors on the popular tours of the Jacobean house, the tractor rides were well-received by the children, and band Fable entertained the crowd with a new selection of songs, augmented by the fine singing and playing of Barry Clark from Bourne.

Dowsby Hall owner Jennifer Jennings was thanked for hosting the event, which was organised by Beryl Chinneck and her members of the WI.
