Birds flying over a primary school will have somewhere safe to nest after the pupils put up boxes.
The Len Pick Trust has donated bird boxes to Bourne Abbey Primary Academy. The boxes were made by Dave Warnes, who works at Carlsberg in Bourne, and donated them to the trust.
The school’s environmental club worked hard to pick the best locations for the boxes and are looking forward to seeing which birds choose to use the boxes.
Year 2 teacher and environmental coordinator, Marie Green said: “Thank you to the Len Pick Trust for the generous donation of the bird boxes. We are taking part in the RSPB Big Birdwatch and the addition of bird boxes will hopefully encourage some feathered friends to take up residence in our school grounds.”
Our picture shows the pupils showing their bird boxes in front of the school’s newly planted living willow dome, where the children can see the willow grow.
