Wakes boss calls for cards to stop

WAKES boss Martyn Lakin has warned his players that he will not tolerate ill-discipline as his side enter crucial games with key players suspended.

Chris Parr, who has picked up five bookings, and Adam Jackson, who was sent off for two bookable offences at Deeping Rangers, will be missing from tomorrow's game against Wellingborough.

Sam Kirton will miss Bourne's next three games after his straight red dismissal, also against Rangers in December.

Lakin said: "These suspensions could be costly. We will miss Chris Parr especially. He has been the inspiration in midfield.

"It's disappointing because it's avoidable and our discipline has to be improved. We have to tidy things up and there are now fines for bookings for ill-discipline.

"Referees talk and we run the risk of getting a reputation if we get too many cards."

After tomorrow's game against Wellingborough at the Abbey Lawn, Bourne host Stewarts & Lloyds Corby on Tuesday and despite the absentees, Lakin hopes to pick up points against both teams, who are towards the bottom of a mid-table pack.

He said: "We have enough players and Owen Smith will be back. The lay-off has allowed him to get fit and Nathan Stainsfield will be available, which he wouldn't have been last week.

"Wellingborough are picking up points from teams above them so their position may not be true reflection of their team. We will have our work cut out."

New signing Lee Orrey is expected to make his first start for the Wakes alongside Ian Dunn up front, and three points from a win on Saturday would equal Bourne's entire tally for last season.

The club has offered free entry on match days and free refreshments to anyone who can step forward to help. For details contact the club direct.
