Stamford College Old Boys have had mix fortunes over the last two weeks, earning a hard fought 19-10 win over a mixed Market Harborough side before losing to Bedford Swifts 24-3 in the league.
Old Boys scored three well worked tries against Harborough and limited the visitors to a single score after being reduced to 14 men.
On Saturday Stamford were on top for large periods of the game, with the Stamford scrum dominant.
However Bedford added the first score after a poor missed tackle allowed the Swift’s centre through to draw the full back and offload to score.
This shook Stamford who had seen the better of the play and the game turned scrappy with possession turning over time and time again.
Stamford regained their composure and Johns added a penalty to make it 10-3 at half time.
The second half carried on as the first had finished with Stamford trying to build pressure yet unable to score.
Bedford added two tries to get the result but Old Boys battled to the final whistle.
