Oakham under-15s continued their recent good form with a convincing 61- 7 victory against an always determined Melton side.
Oaks began strongly with lock Will Underwood carrying powerfully through midfield.Wing Matt Betts capitalised to set up full-back Eddie Loring to open the scoring. Betts himself then scored following a burst down the left wing and Oli Elliot extended the lead further after good hands from scrum-half Don Butchart.
With centre Kyle Stevenson showing promise and Josh Lewis’ accurate kicking pinning them into their own 22 Melton struggled to establish any field position and No.8 Connor Griggs’ surge from the back of the scrum gave Oaks a 22-0 lead at the break.
Melton began the second half positively but Betts’ broke clear to score before Melton replied. Butchart finished well to reassert Oaks’ superiority.Tom Darlington’s direct running from half-way brought him a try before Milo Abraham’s quickly taken lineout gave Elliot his second.
Betts completed his hat-trick, replacement James Moody ran in from 60 yards and from the final play fly-half Theo Jones scored a try.
