Prize goes to charity at end of pub tournament

THE Anchor Inn in Bourne held its sixth annual charity pool knockout tournament on Friday, December 11.

It was always going to be hotly contested competition with three previous winners competing and so it proved as the 16 players whittled themselves down to the two finalist.

The 2007 winner Phyl Johnson 7-balled Ben in the first game, but Ben took the second game to take the final in to the deciding game, which Phyl took to win a pool cue and 30 cash prize.

Phyl donated the cash to The Meningitis Trust which was the charity being supported for the night.

A raffle had been organised with prizes kinldy donated by Moonshie, Sams, Carlsberg-Tetley, Sainsburys, MartinMcColl, Walkers, Rainbow, Bourne4Sports and The Anchor, and a total of 104 was raised through ticket sales and donations.

Event organiser Richard Lomas-Brown expressed his thanks to everyone who bought tickets, took part on the night and to the sponsors of all the great prizes.
