Bourne B show massive improvement

BOURNE B’s improving season in Division 1 of the Stamford and Rutland Table Tennis League continued with an 8-2 victory over Stamford School.

This was an exact reversal of the scoreline when the two teams met earlier in the season, and Trevor Carter’s men will now be eyeing a top-four finish.

Trevor was unbeaten, as was Brian Spittlehouse, while Ray Tong contributed two further points.

Three of the title-chasing teams in Division 2 enjoyed convincing wins this week.

Leaders Bourne D overwhelmed their E squad 10-0, with Chris Holland, Leanne Hills and Kevin Greenfield displaying little rustiness following the mid-season break.

Second-placed Uffington CC A earned the most rewarding win of the week by defeating hitherto unbeaten Bourne C 8-2.

Martyn Dennis and Matt Durrands each won three times, and if they can remain fit, the cricketers will be favourites to secure the title.

However, Tallington A beat their B team colleagues 10-0, and they remain in the chase. Mike Dinwoodie, Richard Allen and Kevin Toomey were the A team’s successful players.
