Top racing tipster Kevan Minter, known as The Colonel, gives readers his top tips for the week ahead. Kevan, who lives in Stamford, is trackside most days and is regularly on television.

Noel Fehily celebrated his 38th birthday on Boxing Day with a win on Silviniaco Conti in the William Hill King George VI Chase at Kempton beating the 100/30 favorite Cue Card and giving trainer Paul Nicholls his eighth win in the race.

Silviniaco Conti and Bobs Worth are now the 4/1 joint favourite’s with the sponsor for the Cheltenham Gold Cup in March.

Paul Nicholls is now 8/11 for the jump trainers championship with Nicky Henderson at 11/10 and Jonjo O’Neill at 25/1.

My Tent Or Yours (11/8) landed the Christmas Hurdle for Nicky Henderson beating the highly regarded Cheltenham festival winner The New One by half-a-lengh with Sametegal held back in third.

Sprinter Sacre had a major training setback at Kempton last week. He was pulled up in the Desert Orchid Chase after being sent off the 2/9 favourite after suffering an irregular heartbeat.

Nicky Henderson’s seven-time Grade One winner was taken to Newmarket’s veterinary surgeons on Saturday morning and examined to determine his future in racing. Most bookmakers have suspended the market in the Queen Mother Champion Chase at Cheltenham.

Cloudy Too was an impressive winner at Weatherby over Christmas in the Rowland Meyrick Chase and may now go for the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Willie Mullins Dual Champion Hurdle winner Hurricane Fly (11/10 fav ) won the Ryanair Hurdle at Leopardstown on Sunday in great style showing bags of quality and is now bang on target for the festival come March with Ladbrokes making him 3/1 co-favorite with The New One and My Tent Or Yours.

At Lingfield on Saturday, Joyous looks competitive of its handicap mark for Dean Ivory in the 2pm race. Robert Winston is booked to ride the four-yearold sprinter.
