Nene Valley Harriers’ young discus star, Robbie Shaw, followed up his recent personal best throw and club record 16.25m effort with a bronze medal at the Sainsbury’s UK School Games at Sportcity in Manchester last Friday.

Shaw threw the implement to 15.89m to secure yet another podium position at a major championships when he placed third behind some strong competition.

The Geoff Capes-coached 16-year-old had also taken bronze at the previous weekend’s England Athletics U17 Championships at Bedford, and then followed that up with his new PB at the Kettering Open Meeting on August 30.
