Stamford High School Year 11 pupil Megan Stoker competed at the East Midlands Rowing Regatta at Peterborough rowing lake last weekend.

After only two years of rowing, Stoker managed to win gold in the U16 2000m race, defeating 17 other girls, including two national champions.

Heidi Myles, Head of PE at Stamford High School, said: “We are extremely proud of Megan’s success and look forward to her competing at the National Schools Indoor Rowing Championships in London.”

This year has seen Stamford High School enter the Peterborough Indoor Rowing League where Stoker once again excelled. Results are calculated as a percentage of the gold medal standard which is set by the Rowing Association.

Stoker set a fine personal best over 1000m, achieving above the gold standard throughout the year.
