Although conditions have been challenging fish are being caught at Rutland Water. Mick Atkinson recorded a great bag of fish from the Main Basin – six fish for 18lb 2oz including a 7lb 5oz Rainbow which was the best fish of the week.
The best Brown of the week tipped the scales at 6lb 14½oz for Roy Bartrum who won the rudder match alongside his son Colam.
In Anglian Water Airflo International Northern final competition Seighford Sharks claimed first spot with 45 fish for 105lb 2½oz, Second were Ospreys with 33 fish for 70lb 3½oz.
The Renegades came third with 27 fish for 57lb 6⅜oz.
These top three teams now go forward to the International final at Rutland Water on September 30 and 1 October.
Andy Cooper fishing for Stocks Cormorants took the best fish of the match at 6lb 1½oz. Top rod was Gary Owen, fishing for Seighford Sharks, with a bag of 21lb 3⅞oz.
In the Tuesday Night Boat League Graham Hayward of Empingham won the tenth match of this season’s league with 4 fish including the biggest fish of the night a 4lb 3¾oz Rainbow.
His four fish weighted in at 11lb 3oz.
In second was Hilary Tomlinson with 5 fish for 9lb 10¼oz, third was Rich Cooper with 4 fish for 9lb 7¼oz.
Rich Cooper’s third place on the night has taken him to the top of the current leader board with the total points tally of 55.
In second is Mick Bennett with 51 points, third is Keith Jones (Wittering) on 41 points.
At the Anglian Water Rudder match on Saturday, the fifth in a series of nine, was held on Saturday in less than perfect rudder conditions.
Father and son Roy and Colam Bartrum managed to catch their fish on fast sinking lines and a small black boobie. Roy’s bag included the best Brown of the week at 6lb 14½oz.
Best Rainbow at 7lb 5oz was taken by Mick Atkinson.
Best boat areas have been the main basin, North Arm, Tower. Barnsdale to New Zealand Point.
Best bank areas Old Hall, Green Bank, Hinmans, Dam and Fantasy.
