Cycling club Rutland Rouleur were crowned winners in the Mallory Park Youth Road Race League this month in just their first ever season of racing.
Beating the second placed team by an impressive 16 points, the win was a fantastic end to the presentation evening which had already seen individual success for club members.
Thomas Gaul in the U8 boys had already won the title half way through the season on points and he didn’t disappoint on the final race either, taking first place before receiving his winners jersey and trophy.
Millie Fionda was consistent throughout her races and secured second place for the U8 girls. Eve Atkinson and Olivia Hunnikin achieved third and second respectively in the U12 girls showing enormous potential and determination.
Millie and Olivia also won the Prestwold cup for their age groups.
Owen Lightfoot was awarded the Lantern Rouge for most race attendances, and Seb Coleman, 6, Lottie 5 and Flo Lissaman were presented with medals and certificates for gaining top three places during the season.
The League promotes cycling racing for Youths and takes place at Mallory Park Motor Racing circuit between April and September.
With 42 teams represented and more than 200 cyclists competing across the season, Rutland Rouleur club members have gained valuable race experience and will be back defending their crown next year.
