It was a successful weekend for the Rutland sides in Division Three of the Leicestershire and Rutland District League on Saturday.
Oakham continued their storming start to the season with another 40 points to extend their lead at the top of the table after beating Electricity Sports.
Bhavin Shukla hit a match best 83 as Oakham set a target of 206 and Sports were then all out for 145. Matt Osman and Calvin Flowers each took three wickets each in the winning effort. Uppingham secured a winning draw against Stoughton and Thurnby 2nds thanks largely to the batting of Harry Butchart who hit an impressive 85 from sixth in the order and Tom Hubbard hit 72, in Town’s 201-8.
Thurnby could only muster 110-8, but Town’s bowlers were unable to finish the job. Harry Wade was the top performer with the ball getting three wickets for 27 runs.
Oakham Seconds came unstuck in Division Six East, losing to Bharat Sports by 36 runs.
Homeside Oakham bowled out Bharat for 180 but could only score 144 themselves with the bat despite the best efforts of John Morton with 31.
However Uppingham Seconds strolled to a nine wicket win over Melton Seconds in Division Seven East.
Uppingham dismissed Melton for 118 with Joe Bennett claiming four wickets for a miserly 18 runs. Sam Rees and Pete Smith each took three wickets before Jack Salt hit 61 not out to lead Town to victory.
