Ketton’s first game in Cambs Division One yielded a comfortable seven-wicket success at March Town. Highlight was a first Cambs League half century for Jacob ‘Dusty’ Miller who was an emergency opener.

“Dusty wouldn’t normally have batted that high, but we had a player away on a speed awareness course,” Ketton skipper Rob Vitas explained. “The player concerned offered to rush here for an hour after the start which was rather missing the point of the course he was on,”

Miller made 51 and professional Rob Woolley cracked 67 as Ketton chased down their hosts 198-8 with ease.

There was also a promising debut for South African import Ulrich Van Duycher who finished unbeaten on 38 after taking 4-27. Van Duycher took a wicket with his first ball for the club. Matthew Vail (51) top scored for March who can expect a season of struggle.

Elsewhere early season title contenders Godmanchester found their stride quickly with a six-wicket win at Nassington. Dan Robinson’s 75 for Nassington at the top of the order helped his side to 195-9, but Goddy were always in control in reply.
