Six members of Rutland Running & Tri Club enjoyed a tough and challenging orienteering cross country run on Saturday organised by the Blaby Meridian Rotary Club in Charnwood.
The event began from the Sports Centre in Quorn and was started by the mayor. Runners and walkers headed out on either a 15-mile or 26-mile adventure.
Four members of Rutland Running & Tri Club completed the 15-mile course, which turned out to be 16.6 miles.
John McCrone had a cracking run, finishing third in the event in 02:14.36.
Next home was Sue Fulbrook who had a great race, her time was 02:59.14. Nikki Loomes came home in 03:13.18, alongside Kevin Loomes in 03:13.24.
Two members of the club competed in the longer marathon distance – Bryan Clary finishing in a fantastic 13th position in 04:22.29 followed by Damian Wilkins in 04:58.45.
Andrea Gordon-Kerr of Rutland Running & Tri Club competed in her first half marathon in 30 years. She was back in her home town of Colchester where she last competed in a half marathon distance.
She came home in a very respectable 1hr 57 mins and 47 secs and was delighted with the results.
