Ketton Lions lost for the first time in Cambs Division Two which meant a personal sacrifice for skipper Rob Vitas.
Vitas vowed to shave his beloved beard off if title favourites Ketton lost a game this season. His appointment with the razor was booked when second-placed Saffron Walden earned a three-wicket win at Pit Lane yesterday (July 12).
For the second week running Ketton recovered from a terrible start with the bat to post a decent 48-over score. Ajaz Akhtar, one of a trio of highly-paid performers, rescued Ketton from 91-8 to 174-9 with a well-struck innings of 61 not out, but the visitors eased home despite the best efforts of Aussie bowler Jordan Ryan (3-46). Ryan (30) also batted well.
Ketton still enjoy a handy 37-point lead at the top.
