The Bourne Deeping Ladies 2nds had a bracing encounter with Spilsby Ladies in Skegness on Saturday, finishing all even at 3-3.
The first game back after the festive break saw the Dragons Ladies make an encouraging start with an early goal from Kat Kennedy storming down the right wing. Bourne Deeping then settled into a good rhythm with some excellent attacking play resulting in several scoring chances. A second goal from Eve Greenaway boosted the confidence and everything was looking good for a win but the Dragons lost shape and momentum and Spilsby caught them on the break and pulled one back.
Bourne Deeping regrouped and surged forward once more with some strong passing and movement up the wings. A third Bourne Deeping goal from Rachel Lloyd on the left wing just before half time gave an encouraging scoreline of 3-1 at the break.
In the second half Spilsby adapted their structure and game and made a very determined start moving forward in numbers and putting pressure on the Bourne Deeping goal leading to another Spilsby goal early in the second half.
The pressure continued as the opposition gained more confidence and drilled balls into the away side’s circle, despite some excellent saves and defending Spilsby were able to score again in the last minutes of the game for a share of the points.
