Catmose College pupils have had an outstanding sporting year achieving great exam results and reclaiming the area Varsity title

In the Rutland and Melton Varsity League, Catmose emerged victorious for the second time in three years, beating Uppingham CC into second place by 35 points.

More than 200 pupils across all year groups took part. The Year 7 boys teams were first in basketball, football and sports hall athletics and second in futsal and rugby. The Year 7 girls won the football, netball, table tennis, rounders and athletics.

The Year 8 boys were first in tennis and athletics, and third in basketball and rugby.

Again the girls were first in basketball, netball, rounders, cricket and athletics.

In Year 9 the boys won rugby and tennis, and were third in basketball and indoor rowing. The Year 9 girls were first in basketball, netball and rounders.

The Year 10 boys were first in the volleyball and indoor cricket, second at football and handball and third at indoor rowing.

Once again the girls excelled, winning the indoor cricket, table tennis and rounders and were second at volleyball.

The Year 11 boys were second in basketball, handball and table tennis and third in rugby. The girls were first at table tennis.

A large number of students were selected to represent Rutland at the Leicestershire and Rutland School Games held at Loughborough University.

All of the teams performed strongly but the highlights were the Year 7 and Year 8 girls’ netball teams who were both crowned champions.
