Conor Craig scored the first half century of the competition to ease Nassington into the quarter-finals of the Burghley Park sixes last night (July 7).

Craig finished unbeaten on 55 as Nassington posted 86-1 from their five overs. Newborough replied with 63-4.

Openers Laurence Davis (38no) and Craig Wilson (30no) saw Ketton past Laxton’s 74-2 before Ufford Park pipped Empingham despite a fine all-round display from Rob McKevitt who struck 44 and claimed two wickets in two balls in his single over.

Wilson hit all six balls bowled by Ivan Hales to the boundary.

Empingham’s Will Thraves won champagne moment of the night for a brilliant boundary catch that saw prolific run scorer Ross Keymer depart from the first ball he faced.

Ketton and Nasington will meet in Thursday’s (July 9) quarter-finals when Ufford Park will take on Castor.

The remaining two first round matches take place this evening (July 8) when Barnack’s big-hitting superstar Zeeshan Manzoor will be in action. Holders Stamford also tackle Market Overton in the first of the quarter finals tonight.
