Bourne Wheeler teenagers Maddie Gammons and Tim James both flew the flag for the East Midlands in the 2014 UK School Games at Manchester Velodrome last weekend.

Tim, in particular was on great form, finishing well ahead of his teammates in the distance races. Overall the East Midlands team finished 7th, an excellent result as one of the team crashed out on the penultimate day of competition, meaning for two of the final events, the team only had three riders.

Sunday saw the first round of the Lincolnshire Cyclocross League at Ancaster. The top performance was by Alex Galpin who came 4th in the under 12 race, a race that featured eight Bourne Wheelers in competition.

In the under 16 race, Bourne had two riders. Unfortunately Jess Woodworth punctured on the first lap and Adam Botteley crashed heavily when well placed.

In the senior race, Bart Kieres was the club’s top performer coming in 15th out of a field of 120.

Phil Galpin also performed well, placing just inside the top 40, while Sian Botteley came second in the women’s category.
