Bourne Twon Harriers excel in Lincoln

Bryce Tshabalala was the star of the Bourne Town Harriers junior squad at Lincoln this weekend, winning both of his events in style.

He completed the 80m sprint in a time of 12.2 seconds and jumped 3 metres 55 in the under-11 long jump.

In the under-13s, Jasmine Hammond increased her personal best in the high jump to win with a superb 1m40. She then went on to jump 3.74 in the county long jump competition to finish fourth.

Olivia Scane joined her in that event, jumping 2.92, and also ran the 100m in 17.2 and threw the shot 3m56. Daniel Lawrance was the only male u13 running in the 800m county event in a time of 3.07.8. His other county event was the long jump - 3m21. He finished with a second place in the javelin, throwing 20.11.

The Harriers’ under-15s were Alex Stubley, Callum Scane and Joshua Stone. Alex ran in the ladies 3000m county event and came a very creditable second on a very hot day in 16.34.8. She was second in her other events too - javelin 12m37 and shot 6m08.

Callum ran in the county 800m (2.54.2) and was third in the county long jump with 3.88. He and Joshua then competed in two events together. In the 100m they were the only competitors in their age, and Joshua won in 13.7, whilst Callum ran 14.6. In the 300m, Joshua was third in 45.3 and Callum fourth in 50.

Ben Jagger was the only u17 competitor and jumped 9.40 in the triple jump, 1.45 in the high jump and threw 17.92 in the hammer - ensuring a strong points haul.

Lisa Richardson and Judith Jagger, representing Grantham but a coach at Bourne Town Harriers, battled in four events together.

In the 100m, Lisa overcame Judith in a time of 14.9 - 0.1 second off her personal best.

Lisa won the triple jump with a jump of 8.35 whilst Judith came second with 7.17. Judith beat Lisa in the hammer throw with a throw of 23.04 whilst Lisa threw 20.20, a new personal best.

In the shot putt, Judith won the competition with a putt of 8.25 whilst Lisa could only manage second with 7.81. Judith went on to throw the javelin 21.05 coming second.

Mike Scane was the only veteran male representative competing in just the triple jump and he won the event with a jump of 9.71.
