Bourne and Uppingham progress to Stamford Charity Cup semi-final

Burghley Park sank to a five wicket defeat at home to local heavyweights Bourne in the quarter-finals of the Stamford Charity Cup on Monday night.

Batting first, Burghley were bowled out for 110, which the visitors quickly reached to secure a semi-final berth.

At the same time Uppingham fell to a nine wicket loss at the hands of Market Deeping at Outgang Road.

Town lost just one wicket as they reached the 86 run target setting by the homeside.

Jon Collen took five wickets in his four overs as Ufford Park beat neighbours Barnack by four wickets Collen’s 5-29 helped check a blistering start by Barnack who smacked 68 from the first seven overs before being dismissed for 134.

Ufford reached the last two overs requiring 17 to win and managed it in six balls thanks to the big-hitting efforts of Joe Corder and Sandeep Dahiya.

Ufford now wait for the winners of the Stamford Town/Nassington tie which will be staged on Friday (June 6).

The other semi-final will take place between Bourne and Uppingham after both achieved easy quarter-final wins.

The quarter-finals of the Jaidka Cup take place tonight (Wednesday), starting at 6pm.
