Dianne is Toft’s three club champ
TOFT Golf Club’s Ladies Section held two competitions in January, both with very tight finishes.
The 21 players entering the three clubs plus putter event played just 13 holes due to the weather with three ladies finishing on 24 points. Dianne Clayton won on countback, ahead of Viv Stanton in second and Barbara Hare in third.
The Putt-Putt competition gave 24 players a chance to indulge in smart and unorthodox tactics as only the number of putts was counted, leading to manoeuvres around the 18 greens with the aim of pitching close to the hole.
Several soon became wise to this tactic and the ace exponent turned out to be Karen Parsonage with the lowest number of 26 putts. In second was Sandra Wildmore with 27 and Angela Bedwell came third on 28.
l THE Toft Texas Scramble was held on Sunday with 36 members taking part in a shotgun start in extremely windy but dry conditions.
First were Barbara Hare, Jean Parsons, Mark Gould and Roger Steer with 61.5 points. Second Helen Roscoe, Maureen Paulson, Paul Stark and Phil Sendall with 63.2 points. In third place was the quartet of Sandra Wildmore, Lisa Gauci, David Parsonage and Terry Hare on 64.
