Blackstones boss Neil Cotton has stepped down because of work commitments.

The Stones boss failed to register a win in his 22 match stewardship of the ChromaSports & Trophies United Counties Division One club, finishing with a 1-0 loss to Raunds Town on Saturday to finish 17th in league.

Cotton replaced Neil Anderson as first-team manager in November and was forced to recruit some of his players from the lower divisions of the Peterborough League, the result is they have failed to be competitive in the UCL.

The club have already advertised for a new manager.

A club statement issued yesterday (Sunday) said: “Manager Neil Cotton has announced his decision to resign as first team manager at the end of the 2014/15 season due to work commitments. The committee would like to extend their thanks and gratitude to Neil for all his efforts during his tenure at the club and wish him all the best for the future.

“Blackstones FC now have a vacancy for a first team manager to take the club forward for the next season. Blackstones FC is a friendly club that plays in the United Counties league Division One and has the backing of an enthusiastic and positive committee as well as a core of loyal supporters.
