A two-goal second half fightback on bank holiday Monday kept the Daniels’ remarkable start to the season going.
Stamford’s 2-1 home victory over King’s Lynn Town made it four wins out of four in their Northern premier campaign.
It neatly followed up a 3-0 win at Nantwich Town on Saturday and they now sit at the top of the table as the only side to have won every game.
Stamford looked off the pace early in the first half and were punished when, after 10 minutes, an excellent corner from Lynn skipper David Bell was powered home by Sam Brooks.
Five minutes before the break Stamford registered their first shot on target, Jon Challinor’s long range effort saved by Alex Street.
Half time saw the introduction of Ryan Robbins whose impact on the game was almost immediate. His shot was deflected for a corner and, from the resultant kick, Robbins’ header was just over.
Stamford levelled on 49 minutes, Robbins bursting past the Lynn defence to set up Jordan Smith who made no mistake.
On 70 minutes Robbins’ run resulted in a corner which Cotton delivered deep. Smith headed back across goal for Nabil Shariff to tap home and put Stamford ahead.
Man of the match Ellis Myles.
○ On Saturday, the Daniels’ first effort came when Ellis Myles crossed from the right and his effort just evaded the on-rushing Shariff.
With half time approaching, Stamford took the lead when Ellis Myles crossed to Nabil Sharif who passed the ball to Jon Challinor.
With 60 minutes on the clock Stamford were awarded a corner which was swung in by Dan Lawlor and Cameron Powell opened his Daniels account.
Eleven minutes later skipper Richard Jones passed the ball to Robbins who rode a couple of tackles to slot the ball past the Nantwich keeper to secure the win.
