Baston Football Club committee have appointed Leighton Atkin as coach and Damon Wilson as reserve team coach until the end of the season.

They have both joined the club with immediate effect and will commence their roles by shadowing both the existing reserves coach Rob Clarke and caretaker 1st team coach Phil Davies to get to know the players at the club and understand how the club is run.

Leighton comes with a wealth of playing experience in the UCL or above, and for the last five years has been coaching in youth football.

He is a qualified UEFA B coach and will bring fresh ideas and coaching methods to the club. Leighton will also continue in his existing role in youth football at Netherton United. 

Damon joins having previous experience running the Peterborough Futsal team and having played for several years both in England and Germany.

The committee have decided to make the appointments until the end of the season to then revisit the club management structure and give both the club and the appointed individuals every chance of success.

A club representative said: “We are excited and happy with the appointments, and thanked all candidates for their interest.”
