Stamford eased their relegation fears in the Evo-Stik League Northern Premier Division on Saturday with a 1-0 win at sixth place Skelmersdale.

The goal came on 15 minutes from skipper Richard Jones, who sent a looping header from a Charlie Binns free-kick over the Skelmersdale keeper and into the back of the net.

Stamford remain in 18th position in the 24 team league but are now eight points clear of the Frickley Athletic in the final relegation position with a possible 15 points left to play for.

The Daniels are away to Droylsden on Saturday.
