Deeping Rangers lost away to Cogenhoe United for the first time in six years on Saturday, going down 2-1 in the UCL Premier Division.

Compton Park has been a happy hunting ground for Rangers in recent years but goals either side of half time sunk Deeping.

Rangers looked to have been going in level at half time, but two minutes into added time before the break Stuart Smeathers popped up to put the Cooks ahead.

Just four minutes into the second half Cognehoe striker Luke Emery stuck his club’s second of the afternoon.

The travelling side threatened to come back when Levi Wright notched a goal for Rangers in the 70th minute but the hosts held on.

Deeping are now down to 10th in the table while their victors moved up to third in the league.
