Plans are afoot to add two more teams to a successful junior football club which was started a few years ago by some like-minded, dedicated, parents.

Having created a friendly, family-based, ethos, the volunteers and coaches have seen player numbers at Pointon Juniors Football Club increase dramatically.

The club’s under-11s, under-14s, under-15s and under-16s are all currently top of their respective mid-Lincolnshire and Grantham leagues.

It also runs a second under-16s side and an intermediate under-18s team.

Last season Pointon forged links with primary schools in Lincolnshire by hosting a schools tournament which was a great success and raised funds for St Gilbert’s School. Another tournament is planned for May.

The club also plans to set up under-7s and under-10s sides for next season. Any boys or girls interested in playing and potential coaches/managers can phone Elliot Newman on 07514 944964.

Businesses interested in sponsoring the club can also phone Mr Newman.

He said: “Pointon FC would like to thank all the players for their efforts this season, and the parents, groundsmen, committee and coaches.”
